La Graciosa is a small island just north of Lanzarote, accessible by a short ferry ride from Órzola. This is the smallest inhabited island in the Canary archipelago and offers a glimpse of what the Canaries were like before mass tourism.

The island has only about 700 permanent residents and two small villages: Caleta de Sebo and Pedro Barba. With unpaved sandy roads and no cars except for a few service vehicles, La Graciosa offers authentic peace and simplicity. Most visitors get around on foot, by bicycle, or on organized 4x4 tours.

The island's main attractions are its pristine beaches with crystal-clear turquoise waters. Playa de las Conchas on the northwest coast is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the Canaries, though swimming can be dangerous due to strong currents. Playa Francesa and Playa de la Cocina offer safer swimming.

La Graciosa is perfect for hiking, with trails offering spectacular views from its volcanic peaks, including Montaña Amarilla and Montaña del Mojón. The landscape is starkly beautiful, with volcanic formations, sandy plains, and dramatic coastal cliffs.

Plan a full day for this trip. The ferry takes about 25 minutes. Bring water, snacks, sun protection, and cash (few places accept cards). Several restaurants in Caleta de Sebo serve fresh fish. Consider renting a bicycle at the port to explore more of the island.
