Paragliding in Lanzarote

Orzola beach ground handling a paradliger

Free flying (paragliding and hang gliding) is a popular activity in Lanzarote, with the island’s warm climate and strong winds making it an ideal destination for the sport. There are a number of paragliding companies operating on the island that offer tandem flights if you want to experience the magic of free flying over cliffs, ocean and volcanos. Some popular paragliding sites in Lanzarote include:

  • Famara / Teguise: From Teguise you fly up to Famara and the risco when the wind is coming form the NW.
  • Macher: Located in the south of the island, Macher is known for its good thermals and is a popular spot for paragliders. It’s a good spot when the wind is coming from SE.
  • Playa Quemada: Also good when wind is coming form S or SE.
  • Mala: Located on the east coast of the island, Mala is known for thermal conditions when the wind is coming from NE or E.
  • Mirador del Río / Orzola: On the north of the island, you can enjoy breath-taking views of La Graciosa while you fly. Good with N or NE wind.
  • Tenesar: The place to be in summer with N winds.
  • El Cuchillo: thermal and dinamic lift when wind is coming from N direction.
